Beide soorten behoren tot de familie Pieridae, de witjes. De Prioneris philonome komt voor in Zuidoost-Azië en kenmerkt zich door zijn witte vleugels met zwarte randen en opvallende gele vlekken aan de onderzijde van de vleugels. De Apias indra is eveneens afkomstig uit Zuidoost-Azië en vertoont een elegant wit kleurpatroon met subtiele zwarte tekeningen.
Beide soorten zijn actief in bosgebieden en open landschappen en vertonen een krachtig, direct vlieggedrag. De vlinders vliegen snel en doelgericht, waarbij ze regelmatig stoppen om nectar te verzamelen van bloemen. Both species belong to the family Pieridae, the whites and yellows. The Prioneris philonome occurs in Southeast Asia and is characterized by its white wings with black borders and striking yellow spots at the underside of the wing. The Apias indra is also native to Southeast Asia and displays an elegant white color pattern with subtle black markings.
